Mr. Nobuhiko Tamura is currently the President of Dainippon Sumitomo Pharma America (DSPA), which is a position he has held since 2007, and Executive Officer of Dainippon Sumitomo Pharma Co., Ltd. (DSP). In February 2010, Mr. Tamura took on the additional responsibilities of Executive Vice President of Clinical Research and Medical Affairs at Sepracor.
Mr. Tamura began his career at Sumitomo Chemical Co., Ltd. as a researcher in the Pharmaceutical Division engaged in new drug discoveries. In 1984, he was transferred to Sumitomo Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (SP) upon its establishment as a subsidiary of Sumitomo Chemical. After six years in the discovery laboratory of SP, he broadened his experience working in a business development group in New York and served as a U.S. representative of SP America for five years. From 1994 to 2007, Mr. Tamura transitioned to the R&D Division of SP and DSP, leading several biological projects and new chemical entities for the treatment of central nervous system and other diseases. During this time, he also cultivated alliances with universities.
