Mr. Nobuhiko Tamura is currently the Executive Vice President and Chief Scientific Officer for Research and Development at Sepracor Inc. He assumed this position in January 2010. He held the position of President of Dainippon Sumitomo Pharma America (DSPA) from 2007 until March 2010, and he is an Executive Officer of Dainippon Sumitomo Pharma Co., Ltd. (DSP).

Mr. Tamura began his career at Sumitomo Chemical Co., Ltd. as a researcher in the Pharmaceutical Division engaged in new drug discoveries. In 1984, he was transferred to Sumitomo Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (SP) upon its establishment as a subsidiary of Sumitomo Chemical. After six years in the discovery laboratory of SP, he broadened his experience working in a business development group in New York and served as a U.S. representative of SP America for five years. From 1994 to 2007, Mr. Tamura transitioned to the R&D Division of SP and DSP, leading several biological projects and new chemical entities for the treatment of central nervous system and other diseases. During this time, he also cultivated alliances with universities.
