Sepracor places considerable focus on development of drug candidates for the treatment of central nervous system (CNS) disorders. Intending to complement LUNESTA^® brand eszopiclone and expand the company's CNS franchise, we are currently investigating compounds for the treatment of serious, prevalent CNS disorders, including depression and pain. In addition, we expanded our commitment to delivering CNS therapies by in-licensing an antiepileptic product candidate from BIAL-Portela & C^a, S.A., a Portuguese pharmaceutical company, in late 2007. We submitted a New Drug Application to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for this product in March 2009 and a New Drug Submission to the Therapeutic Products Directorate of Health Canada in August 2009.
